Six Anaheim Elementary students recognized for environmental artwork

The winners were recently honored by the Anaheim City Council.

 Anaheim Beautiful is proud to announce the winners of the 2019

Community Pride Poster Contest, a program that reaches out to Anaheim’s 32,000 elementary-aged

students and encourages them to care for the environment. Anaheim Beautiful presents the annual

contest in partnership with the City of Anaheim Department of Public Works, Code Enforcement Division,

Republic Services and Superior Graffiti Removal Services.

Participation in the Community Pride contest was open to all public schools in Anaheim for students, 1st

through 6th grade. Students were invited to create a poster on one of the following Community Pride

themes: Recycling, Graffiti-Free, Litter-Free.  The mission is to promote and bring awareness to antilittering,

anti-graffiti and recycling, as well as educate students on the importance of keeping Anaheim

and the Earth beautiful.

 This year’s winners are:

• 1st Grade – Gisela Soto, Centralia Elementary School, Centralia School District

• 2nd Grade – Olivia Parrott, Canyon Rim Elementary School, Orange Unified School District

• 3rd Grade – Thimath Peduruarachchinge, Benjamin Franklin School, Anaheim Elementary School

District

• 4th Grade – Arabella Kim, Crescent Elementary School, Orange Unified School District

• 5th Grade – Andrea Pineda Ruiz, Salk Elementary, Magnolia School District

• 6th Grade – Sofia Canseco, Juliette Low Elementary, Magnolia School District

The Anaheim City Council recognized winners at their June 4th meeting and all received four tickets to

Knott’s Berry Farm as their grand prize. The winning artwork is displayed on the Anaheim Beautiful

website, http://www.anaheimbeautiful.org.
