With a goal of building 20 playhouses in one day, business leaders will grab their paintbrushes for a team-building competition while helping Habitat for Humanity of Orange County raise funds to build more affordable homes. On October 5, the Building Tomorrow Playhouse Design Contest presented by LBA Realty will challenge teams from businesses across Orange County to design, build, paint and decorate playhouses while competing for the coveted Building Tomorrow Trophy.

Participants will use their creativity to design the most colorful and best-looking playhouses for children. Each unique playhouse will be judged in the following categories:

-Creativity—How teams use color, design, and imagination to design their house

-Design—Overall appearance of your playhouse design, tying the interior to the exterior

-Construction—Quality of work, attention to detail, timing and the overall appearance of the structure of the house

-Teamwork—Judges will look to see how well teams work together in an effective, efficient and positive manner

Building Tomorrow brings business together to ensure families have an affordable place to call home, while building playhouses that allow kids to be kids in carefree environments. The proceeds from this creative fundraiser will help low-income families become homeowners in Orange County, where families must earn more than $170,000 per year in order to own a typical home.

Five playhouses will be donated to families, nonprofits, schools and churches in need. Organizations that serve children ages 2-10 can apply to receive a free playhouse from Habitat OC and Building Tomorrow partners.

During the Building Tomorrow event, a select number of playhouses will be raffled off and auctioned to the public. To participate in the auction, contact Playhouse@HabitatOC.org.
