A beautiful Tristania Conferta Brisbane Box tree was planted at Betsy Ross Park in Anaheim recently as part of the Margie Hilgenfeld Tree Memorial Program offered through Anaheim Beautiful. The program provides the opportunity to plant a tree in honor or memory of a loved one. With each tree planted comes a story and memories of the treasured loved one who is honored with this living memorial.
The tree, which will provide shade and beauty to the park, is a beautiful flowering tree, the Tristania Conferta Brisbane Box. It is an evergreen in the Myrtle family and can reach a heigh of 60 feet. It produces fragrant white flowers throughout the summer season.
The tree was planted in memory of David J. Herman who passed away in September 2018. The family chose Betsy Ross Park, located close to where David lived. The park was one of David’s favorite places to come enjoy sports—of any kind. He was a true sports enthusiast having played baseball, football and hockey, as well as being an accomplished bowler.
“The City of Anaheim Parks Department, our partners in the Margie Hilgenfeld Tree Memorial Program, take great care in choosing the right location and tree for these memorials,” said Sandra Sagert. “This beautiful tree is no exception. It is perfectly suited and coincided with the family’s wishes being planted close to the basketball court and baseball fields, handicapped accessible and providing comforting shade to park visitors.”
The Margie Hilgenfeld Tree Memorial Program offers the opportunity to plant these special living memorials throughout the many parks in Anaheim. Information on the program can be found at anaheim beautiful.org/margie-hilgenfeld-tree-memorial/.
