Anaheim’s Emerald Court is collecting teddy bears to donate for local first responder use for two more days, as part of its month of festivities commemorating its 30th birthday.

For the past 30 years, Emerald Court—a Kisco Senior Living community—has worked to provide local seniors and their families with a community that is more than just a place to live, but a home. With this in mind, the senior living community will soon celebrate its 30th birthday and plans to give back to the Greater Anaheim community as part of its month-long festivities. Through September 20, Emerald Court will collect teddy bears for local first responders to use in situations where additional comfort and care is needed. The community believes in the importance of making everyone feel loved and supported and hopes that by providing the bears they will be able to share that positivity with others. During their anniversary celebrations, Emerald Court invites the Greater Anaheim community to join in their efforts by donating new or gently used teddy bears which will be delivered on Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m., just in time for National Gratitude Day.

“In the last 30 years, Emerald Court has established a reputation in the local community for our compassion and dedication to high-quality service and care,” said Cynthia Edwards, executive director of Emerald Court. “Everything we do is for the betterment of our residents, and with our recent expansion and renovation project, we have taken steps to continue this vision for the next 30 years. Now completed, this beautifully appointed ‘Sapphire’ expansion provides an additional 58,000 square feet to the community including a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, and two additional Dining Venues for our residents to enjoy. From the beginning, we have been dedicated to ensuring residents are able to live life well, and over [this] month, this mentality [has been] in overdrive as we pull out all the stops to celebrate what makes this community so special. Turning 30 is a major achievement, and we are excited to celebrate this major milestone together.”

For the remainder of September, members of the public are invited to visit the community any time during business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to drop off their teddy bears. Additionally, the community invites the public to stop by for a number of exciting events and activities celebrating life at Emerald Court all month long, leading up to Emerald Court’s birthday bash on September 28. During the party, attendees will enjoy cake and cupcakes, champagne, a photo booth, petting zoo and so much more.

Each of the community’s birthday festivities will center on Emerald Court’s six dimensions of wellness—which include emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and vocational health and wellness—with the teddy bear drive serving as the vocational foundation in giving back to the local community. The community follows “The Art of Living Well” philosophy and strives to ensure residents are equipped to live in a way that strengthens their overall health and wellness. As the community reaches its milestone 30th birthday, Emerald Court hopes to highlight each of these pillars and what life is like everyday for residents who call the community home.

“At Emerald Court, we choose to live every day as a celebration and make sure our residents are living life to the fullest,” said Cynthia Edwards, Emerald Court Executive Director. “Our community has seen tremendous change over the last 30 years, but our commitment to quality service delivered with a smile remains constant. We’re excited to celebrate such a momentous occasion with everyone who makes Emerald Court a special place to work and call home. We hope the greater community joins us in the festivities and contributes to our efforts to give back and make a difference in the lives of others in Anaheim.”
