The City of Anaheim officially rang in the holiday season this weekend with the 25th Annual Nutcracker Christmas Tree Lighting & Holiday Village in the Center Street Promenade.

On Saturday, the street was blocked off and vendors lined the street to sell festive delicacies and unique artisanal gifts. There even was an air of wintry weather, with gray skies and light rain off and on. The West Anaheim neighborhood tree lighting in Twila Reid Park had been called off the night before due to weather, but the larger event Saturday charged ahead as planned.

Residents peruse the Holiday Village in the Center Street Promenade this weekend.

Carols played through the air, and faux snow fell, much to the little ones’ delight.

There were festivities planned all through the day, including performances by groups like Anaheim Ballet and school choirs, in addition to a brightly colored tot-sized toy train that children could be whisked through the area on, and photos with Santa.

It all led up to the illumination of a beautiful 50-foot tree after dark, at the west end near the Ducks practice facility and the Harbor Lofts.

The massive tree will stay up downtown for the remainder of the holiday season, illuminated in all its Christmas glory.
