A 12-year-old Anaheim boy was located safely Saturday afternoon, a couple of hours after news spread fast on social media and other sources that he’d gone missing.

He was Calvin Roberts, and on early Saturday afternoon he was found to be missing after being last seen in the area of Harbor and Katella.

He is autistic and non-verbal.

He was located when a video showed him getting on a bus.

The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) assisted in stopping the bus.

Anaheim Police Department Public Information Officer Sergeant Daron Wyatt said, “It was the officers who were handling the call that found video from a nearby business. The video showed Calvin getting onto the bus and from that the officers were able to locate the bus number and contacted OCTA. They contacted the driver and verified Calvin was still on the bus and they stopped the bus and responded to pick him up. The bus was either in Long Beach or on its way there. Calvin got on the bus in the immediate area where he was last seen, at Katella and Harbor.”

When asked whether APD received any tips from the public after the social media blast went out, Sergeant Wyatt said he did not believe so, that they did not have much opportunity to, because APD was able to locate him so quickly.

Roberts was safe, and was returned to his relatives.
