At 2:44 a.m. on Friday, May 11, Anaheim Police Department (APD) received a 911 call from an employee inside a Walgreen’s store reporting that the store had just been robbed at gunpoint. As officers were arriving they saw three male African Americans running from the store. The suspects entered a silver Dodge Charger and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle traveled at high speeds westbound on the 91 freeway into the city of Compton. The vehicle stopped and several suspects fled on foot. In all, three males aged 17, 18 and 19, and one female aged 24, were taken into custody by APD with the assistance of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Police Department. One suspect believed to be an African American male in his late teens escaped.
Cash and a handgun were recovered in the vehicle.
Detectives are working with law enforcement from other jurisdictions to determine if the suspects have been involved in additional crimes.
