On Tuesday, March 6 at about 3:20 p.m., officers from the Buena Park Police Department were conducting a theft investigation in the area of La Palma Ave. and Stanton Ave. when they attempted to stop a vehicle suspected of being involved in the theft. The driver fled from officers and a pursuit was initiated, leading into the city of Anaheim. The driver abandoned the vehicle in a residential area near Dale Ave. and Stonybrook Dr., and fled on foot. A passenger in the vehicle was taken into custody without incident.
A containment of the area was quickly established by officers from the Anaheim and Buena Park Police Departments, and after an extensive search of the area, it was suspected that the fleeing suspect had concealed himself in a residence on Yana Dr. Officers located the suspect hiding in the garage of the residence, and he was taken into custody without further incident at about 12:15 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Kodie Dylan Hitchcock, 24, and he was being held on felony evading charges, and an outstanding felony warrant for weapons violations. He was subsequently transferred to the Orange County Jail.
The passenger was identified as Tyler Reid Huntsman, 22, and he was held on a probation violation. He was also transferred to the Orange County Jail.
The initial theft investigation is ongoing.
