The first goal came after some quick touches opened up a simple tap in for Sunny Hills. Many more one-on-one opportunities came the Lancers way but the score would stay even going into half time.

Late in the second half, the Lancers added to their tally after forward Marcelo Alvarez slotted a shot home. Build up play on the right led to an open Alvarez who was clinical in his bottom left corner finish.

Sunny Hills’ second lower-division squad, “Gold,” didn’t fare so well, suffering a 4-0 defeat in their first summer game. Both squads play their next game on Thursday against Brea High School.

The Varsity squad plays their first game Wednesday against South Hills.

The Lancers finished third in the Freeway league last year, and suffered a first round loss in the CIF playoffs in February against Warren.

The Lady Lancers kick-off their first summer league game Friday June 20 against Los Altos  High School. They have won the Freeway league title four years in a row, and hold the Aliso cup title two years running.
