The annual Easter “Eggstravaganza” was held over the weekend at Boisseranc Park, 7520 Dale St., in the City of Buena Park.

The morning started off early with the traditional Buena Park Noon Lions Club Pancake Breakfast at 8 a.m., which includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, orange juice, milk, and hot coffee, served by Lions Club members along with Miss Silverado and her court members.

Lions Pancake Chair Jeff Schlagheck said they mixed three large batches of pancake batter to be browned on the grill by many of the other Lions.

This is the Lions’ largest pancake breakfast of the year and setup is early, at 7 a.m., with lots of Lions joining in to make it a successful event, where nearly 400 breakfasts were sold during the three-hour period, according to Lions Treasurer Dale Eichman.

Events that followed included field games, carnival games, colorful wash-off Easter tattoos, entertainment on stage performed by participants of the City’s leisure classes of children’s dance, Zumba and karate, which are taught at the Walter D. Ehlers Community Center, 8150 Knott Ave.

The event serves two purposes, to feed the hungry Eggstravaganza attendees who come to hunt for Easter Eggs and so the Lions Club can raise and donate more money to charity within the City of Buena Park, according to Lions Secretary Joe Rodehaver.

“That’s the dedicated Lions Spirit,” he said.

The annual Easter Eggstravaganza is a City-sponsored event where children can enjoy bounce houses and pony rides, along with the Easter Egg Hunt for children of various ages in brightly cordoned-off areas on the east lawns.

Although the event is surely a Buena Park specialty, it proved to draw residents from other local cities, with ties to Buena Park, such as Anaheim, Fullerton and Garden Grove and far-away cities as well.

There were lots of prizes and candy for those participating in the field games and carnival games during the Buena Park Spring Eggstravaganza.
