Future Buena Park City Council Members will have a slight bump in pay, as voted on by the current Council this week. The salary currently paid to City Council Members is $1,223 per month. It has been that way since December 11, 2018. The proposal to increase that number to $1,285 per month was first brought forward at the June 11 City Council Meeting. Council Members Sunny Park and Beth Swift were vocal that evening about seeing the increase as unnecessary, and about seeing their current positions as voluntary civil servant positions. The Council Members who were for the increase spoke of not wanting the increase for themselves, but having future Council Members in mind.
A second reading and a vote took place at this Tuesday’s meeting, and the item passed 3-2, with Park and Swift voting against.
