Have you ever wondered what happens to your shadow when you go to sleep? It turns out that some shadows have lives of their own—some are more mischievous than others. Watch one boy’s clever shadow come to life in “Shadow Play” at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. This interactive and immersive theater experience by New York’s Trusty Sidekick Theater Company is presented throughout the Center’s Education Department and is part of the Center’s Family Series. Each production is designed to inspire young imaginations and create a life-long interest and appreciation for live theater. “Shadow Play” is ideal for children 5-8 years old and their families.
Performances of “Shadow Play” are Saturday, Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in Samueli Theater. The Saturday, Nov. 17 performance at 10 a.m. is a sensory-friendly performance designed for children on the autism spectrum or others with sensor sensitivity to enjoy fully the magic and amazement of live performances. The Sunday, Nov. 18 performance at 1 p.m. will be ASL interpreted.

Audiences are encouraged to arrive one hour before the performance for free creative activities. The Center’s Education Department offers these enriching experiences to provide young people and their families with more opportunities to play together creatively. Studies show that this is critical in helping to develop the ability to think and problem solve.
