Over 70 guests helped Anaheim-based nonprofit SeniorServ celebrate the renovation of the Adult Day Center in Anaheim on Jan. 16. The community-wide open house was held at SeniorServ’s Adult Day Health Center located at 1158 N. Knollwood Circle. The event featured presentations, tours and refreshments.
Additionally, Archstone Foundation recently funded a $300,000 grant ($100,000 for three years) for a first-even caregivers support program at SeniorServ’s Santa Ana and Anaheim Adult Day Health Care Centers. SeniorServ partnered with St. Jude Family Caregiver Resource Center and the Alzheimer’s Association for caregiving support once a week for three hours at both centers. The program provides additional respite for family caregivers and includes general caregiving support, dinner and speakers.
As a case study, Dyanna Hoage is an only child and has cared for her father Jan “Mike” Hoage for the past ten years. The Buena Park resident works full-time as a church secretary and Mike started attending the Anaheim Adult Day Health Center in September 2018. The former truck driver has schizoaffective disorder and Dyanna was one of the first participants in the new caregiver support program in Anaheim which started in September 2018. SeniorServ also has a facility in Buena Park.
