The Sunny Park for Buena Park City Council Campaign announced an endorsement from Santa Ana Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez. This comes on the heels of other major endorsements for the Park Campaign from Former Rep. Loretta Sanchez and the Orange County Professional Firefighters.

Mayor Pro Tem Martinez issued the following statement: “I’m excited to endorse Sunny Park for Buena Park City Council. She’ll bring leadership and experience to the council and will focus on improving public safety and quality of life in her city. We need more local women who will stand up for their communities in office and Sunny Park will be a strong voice for neighborhoods and families at City Hall.”

Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez has served on the Santa Ana City Council since 2006. She is also President of the Southern California Association of Governments and is an at-large member of the League of California Cities. She also serves on the Metropolitan Water District Board and is a board member for the Southern California Latino Policy Center, a non-partisan, policy education and research organization. Martinez graduated from California State University, Fullerton where she earned a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice.

Park is a small-business owner, neighborhood leader and community advocate in Buena Park. She is also a state commissioner serving on the California Board of Accountancy, where she works to protect consumers and provide transparency for all practicing accountants. She lives with her husband, Eugene, and their daughter in Buena Park District 1, which will be having its first scheduled election in Nov. 2018.
