Jake Chao, a senior at Oxford Academy, and a team of high school students from Orange County created a program entitled “Young Acoustics.” They created the program to bring free music classes to students in elementary school. Recently, Chao was awarded the Disney Dreamers and Doers Luminary Award and $3,000 to donate to a non-profit organization of his choosing. He chose Magnolia School District as the recipient in order to continue music instruction for students.
This high school led group partnered with Magnolia School District and Nathan Nguyen of InstrumentalSavings.com in an effort to spark an interest in music for approximately 200 fourth to sixth grade students. The group provided weekly music lessons to the students. At the end of their lessons, the students performed a small concert for parents and staff to showcase their new skills.
