At this time of year, many Christian churches celebrate the season with special Christmas concerts and devotionals.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is no exception.
An annual Christmas Concert is held each year during December that brings together invited local city representatives, congregants, families and their friends.
This year’s concert included three choirs of children, youth and adults, accompanied by accomplished musicians from within the Church on organ, piano, violin and oboe.
The evening featured vocal soloist, congregational hymns, and brief videos that put Christ at the center of the worship service.
Music is a long-standing tradition for most during the holiday season, whether it be fun songs of reindeers and Santa or more traditional hymns. The concluding finale was the “Hallelujah Chorus” from George Frideric Handel’s Messiah.
World-wide Church President Russell M. Nelson has said, “Music is such a powerful form of worship, and that reality is never more clear than during the Christmas season when we enjoy beautiful carols that testify of the risen Lord. This December I hope you will make time with family and friends to enjoy the glorious music of the season.”
