On Tuesday, Jan. 23, the Juliette Low School celebrated its grand reopening as Juliette Low School of the Arts. The ceremony featured student performances and recognition from the Anaheim City Council and the Office of Senator Josh Newman. Also in attendance were members of the Magnolia School Board of Trustees, representatives from the Anaheim Assistance League, Anaheim Family YMCA, Orange County School of the Arts, and the Superintendent and Administrators from the Magnolia School District.
Following the program, guests were invited to tour the brand new 3C Lab, an inspirational space where students will create, communicate, and collaborate. The 3C Lab features a broadcast studio that a student crew uses to record and distribute weekly school-wide announcements and interviews.
The transition to becoming Juliette Low School of the Arts began in 2015, when the school was recognized as a Gold Ribbon School with Special Honors in Arts Education, celebrating its long history of rich arts education for its students. Juliette Low was renamed Juliette Low School of the Arts in May 2017 and is currently in its first year of a three-year transition plan that includes rich learning and enrichment opportunities for students across all four arts domains: Visual Arts, Theater, Music, and Dance. Dr. Debra Von Sprecken, school principal, shared, “Our vision is to provide a high-quality, technology-rich and arts-infused 21st-century academic community that empowers and inspires every student to be a confident global citizen and critical thinker.”
