“The future of policing” has come to Buena Park, and the city is already benefiting.
Security cameras have been installed along the entertainment corridor, and they have allowed the police department to stop some crimes in progress.
Lieutenant Rich Pino gave an update on the new system and showed a video the department recently used, in which they were able to see an attempted theft in progress in a parking lot.
As a result of this, police officers were able to arrive on-scene and apprehend the suspect before any crime was committed.
He also showed a video from the cameras from an incident in which a man had alleged that he had been the passive victim of an assault, but the police were able to pull the video footage, and see that that was not exactly the case.
The image quality was very clear, and can also be zoomed in on. Lieutenant Pino called this system “the future of policing” and “a great investment for the city.”
“These cameras are amazing,” he said.
