Fire safety for the deaf and hard of hearing

Come join friends who understand the challenges of living with hearing loss. Vince Anderson from the Orange City Fire Department will give a fire safety presentation designed for people with hearing loss at the County of Orange Hearing Loss Association of America two-hour meeting on Saturday, March 3. The informative meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Mariposa Women & Family Center in Orange at 812 W Town & Center Rd., Bldg. C). The discussion will include information regarding specialized smoke alarm devices and how to use a fire extinguisher, as well as general safety guidelines for the home and business.

Anderson joined the City of Orange Fire Department in 2013 as a Fire Safety Specialist. He has worked with major construction projects including the Chapman University Musco Theater and the Keck Science and Technology Center, Outlets at Orange expansion, and the Watson’s Drug Store renovation. As Special Events Coordinator he serves as the Fire Department Liaison for events including the Orange International Street Fair, 3rd of July City Fireworks Display, Treats in the Streets, and Tree Lighting Ceremony. He also serves as Coordinator for the Department’s Volunteer Fire Reserve program, as well as Secretary for the Orange County Fire Prevention Officer’s Association.

Coffee, water, and light refreshments provided. There will be a 50/50 raffle in which the winner gets 50% of the money collected on tickets sold for the raffle. There will be an after-meeting get-together for lunch close by, to be determined at the meeting.
