Knott’s Berry Farm’s annual Boysenberry Festival kicked off over the weekend, with every food imaginable infused with the signature boysenberry for which Knott’s is famous.
The festival continues through Sunday, April 8 and by purchasing a “Tasting Card,” guests may try all eight of the newest boysenberry-infused fun foods listed on the card.
Along with large boysenberry-flavored ice cream cones and frozen cheesecake immersed in white chocolate blended with a light boysenberry flavor, fun and tasty foods include slow-cooked boysenberry short ribs, boysenberry pierogies (dumpling dough filled with mashed potatoes and cheese, sautéed onions topped with a boysenberry whipped cream), boysenberry chicken wings, boysenberry coconut macaroons, boysenberry elote (grilled corn-on-the-cob brushed with boysenberry butter and mayonnaise, sprinkled with Italian pepper and seasoned salt), boysenberry hummus made of ground chickpeas and sesame seeds infused with a hint of boysenberry flavor served with grilled boysenberry pita bread, mild-flavored boysenberry cheese quesadillas made with a boysenberry-infused flour tortilla served with boysenberry salsa, boysenberry sour cream with a Mexican cotija cheese and mozzarella, and last but not least is a boysenberry sausage on a bun.
There are actually 75 new and returning boysenberry-inspired foods that are at the artful hands and imagination of Knott’s very own culinary team during the limited-time Boysenberry Festival.
The Livery Stable provides visitors with an opportunity to pet several horses and goats up close; the animals seem to enjoy the extra attention and even if a person has heard the full or partial history of the Walter and Cordelia Knott story, the video presentation in Ghost Town Hall is a refresher as to why they and their families can enjoy Knott’s as it is today, albeit with a few more roller coasters hanging in the sky and squeals from riders as they are turned topsy-turvy and upside down.
Stepping back to Knott’s Berry Farm’s historic roots is highlighted each year by featuring the tiny berry that started it at all, the boysenberry.
There is also live music and the Peanuts Gang on the Calico Mine Stage featuring the Snoopy Boysenberry Jamboree.
