Homicide detectives have confirmed a deceased human body was discovered wrapped in a tarp in the trunk of an abandoned car along Santa Ana Canyon Road on October 17. APD officers were responding to a call to assist CHP with an abandoned vehicle along Santa Ana Canyon Road west of Gypsum Canyon. The vehicle was in a dirt lot on the north side of the road. CHP officers discovered a suspicious object wrapped in a tarp in the trunk of the car. The object was a similar size and shape of a human body.

Detectives and crime scene investigators processed the surrounding area for forensic evidence before towing the vehicle to the Orange County Coroner’s Office so the item could be examined in a controlled environment. That item has now been confirmed to be a deceased human body.

Anaheim homicide detectives have now identified the man found left in the trunk of the car as Adrian Darren Bonar, 34, of Escondido.

Bonar is known to frequent motels in North San Diego County and Los Angeles County. Detectives are asking anyone who has had contact with, or has seen Bonar over the past few weeks, to call 714-321-3669. Anyone who saw the vehicle or has information regarding the case is asked to contact Orange County CrimeStoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS or occrimestoppers.org.
