Buena Park Elks held an initiation ceremony welcoming three new members into the Elks on Wednesday, March 18. Near the end of the evening, each of the officers introduced themselves to the new members and told them about the Elks organization and their commitment to our communities.

James Rovida resides in Buena Park and it seemed natural to join the Elks since he lives nearby. He owned a trucking company and has turned it over to his family to run. Jim has seven children, eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jim’s sponsor was Daryl Chrispen.

We welcome newcomer Mark Chekel. Mark, sponsored by member Daryl Chrispen, and we are glad to have him on board. He and his wife Vickie have two children, a son and a daughter. Mark is a mechanic with the school district and is looking forward to volunteering some of his time in whatever capacity he can.

Fred Gonzales, Jr. decided to become an Elk because his dad is currently a member. Fred is a single dad and has two boys and is an owner of a landscaping company in Anaheim. The family tradition moves onward and we hope to see more of Fred Jr.

Thank you all for your commitment and we look forward to seeing you and your families at our lodge.
