Buena Park High finished off its second league victory with a 41-19 win against Troy High on Friday, Oct. 24.
The victory marks the second year in a row that the Coyotes pull off a win against the Warriors.
Coach Anthony White and his squad went into halftime only up by one point but they came back roaring to start off the second half.
The Coyotes scored 27 points in the third quarter to pull away from a Warrior side that matched them pace for pace in the first two quarters.

Coach Anthony White and his squad went into halftime only up by one point but they came back roaring to start off the second half.
The Coyotes scored 27 points in the third quarter to pull away from a Warrior side that matched them pace for pace in the first two quarters.
Coyotes’ quarterback Zach Taylor threw for over 400 yards and he completed three touchdown passes.
Taylor completed more passes than the Troy quarterback even attempted with his 26 for 35 completion record on the night.
Taylor, who is only a junior, led his team to the victory as he stayed cool in the pocket and reacted quick enough in rushing situations. Quick reflexes saw the young quarterback rush in the game’s final touchdown about a minute after throwing a 40-yard touchdown pass to Max Rivera with only 1:40 left in the third quarter.
Taylor’s favorite target on the night was Jaylinn Hawkins, who received for over 150 yards and scored two touchdowns. Hawkins, who has offers from all over to play college ball, was pivotal in sparking off momentum for the Coyotes.
Hawkins’ first touchdown grab came in the first quarter ignited the crucial Freeway league victory. Hawkins capped off his night when he caught his second touchdown in the third quarter for a reception totaling over 30 yards.
Troy was able to compensate for Hawkins abilities by getting in the endzone themselves early on but they weren’t able to maintain their momentum.
The only success that the Warriors had came with about two minutes left in third quarter when Warriors’ quarterback Thomas Berea completed a pass to Ryan Scotti.
However, the success didn’t last as the Coyotes defense was able to hold it down until the final whistle.
Up and coming defensive end Cedric Dashiell II led the Coyotes high powered defense with 11 solo tackles, one sack, and three hurries. Dashiell, a sophomore, is already performing at a high level for the Coyotes, and it will be interesting to see how the young defensive end develops with all the time he has left in White’s program.
The Troy offensive line had a tough time stopping Dashiell, who played a hand in shutting out the visitors in the final quarter of play.
Buena Park moves on this week to face Sonora High (Thursday, Oct. ) in another critical league tie. Sonora is coming off consecutive losses, which will give the Coyotes confidence going into the game considering Sonora lost to Troy two weeks ago. Sonora hasn’t beaten Buena Park since 2012, and coach White is looking to keep it that way. With his top players firing on all cylinders there can be little doubt that the Coyotes are huge favorites to go 3-1 in the league this week. After this week’s game, the Coyotes only have one more contest until the playoffs begin.
If Taylor can maintain his numbers that he put up against Troy, then that will invite Hawkins to play to his highest potential. Hawkins needs to play with a quarterback that is able to make throws consistently and Taylor is proving formidable thus far.
The connection on the field between these two has progressed tremendously since the start summer camp and with the two performing at such a high level it will need to spill over into the CIF playoffs.
