Buena Park High’s football team delivered a crushing 65-0 home victory over Orange High School Thursday, Aug. 28.
The Coyotes overpowered their opponents from the start of the game and never let up.
Stand out player Jaylinn Hawkins received for an enormous 294 yards from only eight receptions. The touchdowns from Hawkins alone could have won the game as he tallied up four Thursday night.

His more than impressive start to the season is a sign of greater things to come as Hawkins develops throughout the season. Hawkins has almost 20 offers from colleges out on the table, and it looks like Hawkins made the right decision on waiting until signing day to choose where he will be playing college ball.
If Hawkins produces more 250 plus yard performances he will definitely grab the attention of the top universities in the nation.
Coach Anthony White will also have been impressed by quarterback Zach Taylor’s performance. Taylor provided the Coyotes with two rushing touchdowns of his own against the Panthers and was on point when throwing from the pocket.
His first test of the season displayed that Taylor can be accurate when under the pressure of a league game.
Taylor did more than just handle the pressure. He rose to it and excelled.
Taylor completed 16 of his 20 attempts during the game for a total of 441 yards. He completed a pass to every single one of his receivers at least once, and he averaged almost 30 yards per completion.
The impressive statistics means that Buena Park has a composed, focused, and talented quarterback running their offense this season.
Even though the majority of point came from the aerial attack, Buena Park’s running game grinded out crucial first downs and was solid across the board.
White could’ve put any of his runningbacks in the game Thursday and they would’ve delivered a solid run.
Senior Will Latham ran hard for the Coyotes and achieved almost 20 yards per carry. Latham also did well on the receiving end as he caught three on the night for 71 yards.
With the amount of players stepping up this year for Buena Park it looks like Coach White will have another successful season to add to his already successful repertoire.
White has produced teams who hold a higher level of discipline and respect, which stems from the inspirational way White talks to his team.
“To be great you have to stay hungry,” said White to his entire squad at beginning of the summer offseason.
It looks as though the players have responded well and haven’t been satisfied with their summer performances. The squad looks like it will add to its success from the summer this coming season.
Especially hungry to prove themselves will be the Coyotes’ defense players. With all the attention on the high-profile Buena Park offense, it can be easy to gloss over the defense’s efforts.
Cedric Dashiell II is an up and coming player for Buena Park’s defense. The sophomore led his team in tackles, etching seven on the night, and also sacked Orange’s quarterback once causing Orange to lose 17 yards.
Both the young and senior players have delivered impressive performances so far in the season, but with only one game in Buena Park will need to keep their intensity up.
Their next contest is against California High School this Friday September 5 away from home. It will be interesting to see if their defense can hold off their opponents to top off another scoreless night.
