Gently used and new items donated by community distributed at annual District event
Centralia Elementary School District’s 10th Annual Winter Bazaar Giveaway opened its doors at 8:30 a.m. at Danbrook School on December 10. Approximately 200 families from the surrounding communities of Anaheim, Buena Park, La Palma, Garden Grove and Fullerton lined up early in the morning to participate in this event.
In preparation, Centralia Elementary School District gathered donations of new and gently used clothes, toys, books and small home appliances from various organizations, community members and employees. In addition to the giveaway, representatives from the City of Anaheim, Think Together and the US Census Bureau provided resources and information about their programs. Target, Northgate Market, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf and Costco provided donations that were also distributed to participants.
In addition to the items distributed, participants were also treated to an opportunity drawing for new household appliances, as well as complimentary coffee and pastries donated by Starbucks and Porto’s.
Through the annual generosity of many, the Winter Bazaar program has given away thousands of items at each event and grown in attendance each time. Dr. Stacy Chang, Director of Parent and Student Engagement, shared, “The Winter Bazaar event provides the opportunity for the district’s community to assist families in time for the holidays. This is an event where it truly takes a village to make it a success.”
