Come celebrate International Jazz Day by relaxing, unwinding and listening to the soothing and electrifying sounds of jazz under the stars at Jazz Day on the Plaza. On Friday, April 26, Afro-Cuban violinist Dayren Santamaria and her band, Made in Cuba, will be performing at The Plaza at Ehlers Event Center at 7 p.m. for a splendid evening of music and celebration.
International Jazz Day brings together communities, schools, artists, historians, academics and jazz enthusiasts all over the world to celebrate and learn about jazz and its roots, future and impact. Around April 30 every year, this international art form is recognized for promoting peace, dialogue among cultures, diversity and respect for human rights.
About the artists:
Dayren Santamaria was fated to be an entertainer. Born in Matanzas, Cuba, this virtuoso Afro-Cuban violinist’s passion for music has taken her on a journey around the world and across musical styles. Her band Dayren Santamaria and Made in Cuba is comprised of Grammy winners and recording artists Oscar Hernandez (Piano), Raul Pineda (Drums/Timbales), Joey De Leon (Congas/Vocals), Alfred Ortiz (Vocals/Percussion) and Ross Schodek (Bass).
