Hamblen is a member of the Buena Park School District’s Governing Board. He has lived in Buena Park more than half his life. Sam has volunteered his time for about two decades to Emery School and Buena Park Junior High School. Sam has been a board member on the Buena Park School District Education Foundation for the past two years.

Baron Night-Buena Park Rotary Rotarian of the Year
Night sets a great example for other Rotarians and the community. He is an active volunteer in Rotary and beyond, serving as club president two terms. He was program chair for seven and a half years; he has brought a variety of speakers to our club each week. He is a Paul Harris Fellow, and has often been Hospitality Night Coordinator. Baron was selected District 5320 Business Rotarian of the Year for 2014.
Cynthia Thacker-Buena Park Rotary Community Service Award
Thacker likes to have the saying, “It’s a great day to volunteer” below her signature on her e-mails. Our Community Service Awardee for this year found her love of volunteering early on, but she says she really found her enjoyment when she began volunteering at Braille for the last 4 years and Guide Dogs for America/the puppy raising division for the last 5 years.
Mary McCasland-Buena Park RotaryVocational Service Award
McCasland has worked for the Buena Park Library District for the past 26 years in various management positions. She currently serves as the library director. She grew up in Anaheim and received her degree from California State University, Fullerton. Mary has a strong knowledge of the Library’s operations, budgeting issues, library staff and library patrons. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Buena Park community.
Katelyn Early-Buena Park Rotary New Generations High School Community Involvement Award winner
Early is currently a senior at Savanna High School. She has participated in softball for the last three years and now participates in the girls swim team. Once she graduates, she plans on enlisting in the United States Navy.
Nuzhat Islam-Buena Park Rotary New Generations Community Service Award
Nuzhat Islam is a dedicated, intelligent, hard-working and community-involved student. At Buena Park High School, Nuzhat was President of National Honors Society and Advanced Academics Academy Club, and took a leadership position in other clubs as well.
