Laura Hsu, Ph.D., a native of Buena Park, has been awarded tenure as associate professor of human development and human services at Merrimack College.
Hsu, who holds an Ed.D. in human development and psychology from Harvard University, began teaching at Merrimack in 2012.
Her research interests are self-integration, aging, priming effects and mindfulness.
According to the American Association of University Professors, tenure—a continuous academic appointment—promotes the freedom of teaching and research that is “indispensable to the success of an institution in fulfilling its obligations to its students and to society.”

Hsu studied at UC Berkeley before earning graduate degrees at Harvard and then beginning to take teaching positions on the east coast.
