According to an official Buena Park Police Department Facebook post, large amounts of illegal fireworks were confiscated by police on the Fourth of July, and at the time of the post, they were awaiting destruction at an Orange County Fire Authority Fire Station.
BPPD’s dispatch center answered 833 phone calls, and responded to 485 calls for service, 157 of which were fireworks related.
No fireworks injuries were reported.
One structure was damaged as a result of fireworks.
BPPD says, “We continue to receive and respond to fireworks calls and appreciate your understanding, that fireworks enforcement is a difficult undertaking. We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day!”
