Supervisor Doug Chaffee hosted the first annual Orange County Fourth District Kindness Awards on Wednesday, November 13 at Fullerton College, which was emceed by the Honorable former Mayor of Anaheim Tom Tait and attended by over 90 guests.
Michael Brown was the recipient of the Kindness Award from the City of Buena Park. Brown has been volunteering at the SeniorServ Adult Day Care Center every day since 2013, clocking in 11,000 hours so far. In 2015, he received the Presidential Call to Service Award.
A panel of judges interviewed all nominees and selected the recipients of the Kindness Awards: The Honorable Tom Tait, The Honorable Bill Steiner, Charles Barfield and Joe Pak.
The judges selected five other recipients for the Kindness Awards: Dr. Dallas and Dr. Debbie Stout from the City of Fullerton, John Koos from the City of Brea, Mike Murphy from the City of La Habra and Megan Loh from the City of Placentia.
Following Tait’s successful initiative to encourage acts of kindness, Supervisor Chaffee asked residents in the Fourth District to nominate individuals who display exceptional kindness and/or community service and who live, work, serve and/or volunteer in the Fourth Supervisorial District Cities.
“I was inspired by the Honorable Tom Tait, who promoted Anaheim as a City of Kindness, to promote kindness in the Fourth District. Kindness is a special human value that brings us together and connects us despite our differences, backgrounds, experiences or ideologies, and I am honored to be able to recognize individuals in the Fourth District who are promoting kindness toward others,” said Supervisor Doug Chaffee.
