On Dec. 1, the annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Buena Park Elks Lodge got off to a good start to the holiday festivities.

Nearly 50 children and their families showed up to greet Santa, and received special treats and gifts that he brought with him.

While waiting for Santa, the kids were treated to a story and songs by Santa’s helper, Linda Meade. After they had their lunch, Santa appeared and sat on the stage, where each child jumped on the seat next to him. The littlest children were reluctant to sit near him but a candy cane sometimes calmed their nerves.

Santa gave each child a special gift. While waiting their turn to see Santa, the kids watched the “Balloon Man’ do magic and balloon art. The kids loved it as they played around on the dance floor until their turn with Santa.

The lodge announced man thanks to Santa, Santa helpers, Linda Meade, Laulene Foster, Sarah Hall, Carrie Piché, Judy Foley, Chris Collis and Chairperson Joyce Henry for helping to stage the event. The children had a good time. The kids went home with full bellies, sticky fingers and their special gifts from Santa. Santa wished all a very Merry Christmas.
