The Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park held a grand opening of its new “Teen Leadership Room” Wednesday, March 6.

Regional Human Resources Business Manager Jeff Lindsay with the company CBeyond, located in Anaheim, decided to volunteer one time at the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park and that’s when he and Interim CFO Todd Trout came up with the idea to help the club take a storage space off of the Teen Room and transform it into a Teen Leadership Room.

And that’s how a dream became a reality.

CBeyond donated all of the furniture in the new room from the conference table, executive chairs, storage cabinets, a desk and a large white-erase board, to name a few of the items.

“As part of our community-focused culture, Cbeyond’s Anaheim office has been partnering with the Boys & Girls Club of Buena Park for the last two years,” Lindsay explained. “Groups of our employees have supported the kids multiple times by participating and volunteering with the after-school program and this is one way in which we can support our non-profit community partners by demonstrating what we call our CBeyond Character  – Care Relentlessly, Act Graciously, Lead Courageously, and Learn Continuously,” he said.

Lindsay said when Trout shared the idea of the Teen Leadership Room with him, Lindsay told him that we wanted to join the effort because CBeyond believes in the impact the club has on kids, many of whom are at-risk.

CBeyond committed to help build out the room with new furniture including the conference table, executive chairs, desk, and computer.

“We simply volunteered with the kids and donated the new furniture, because our employees love to get out into the community and lend a helping hand.” Lindsay said.

Trout explained that the Teen Leadership Room fills a need to support the teen’s weekly leadership/character development sessions, parent meetings, and other conference room uses.

CBeyond Inc., founded in 1999, is a telecommunications and information technology company that provides voice, data, mobile, and cloud services to more than 60,000 small and medium-sized businesses in 14 markets across the United States.
“Being part of the Boys & Girls Club is an opportunity for kids to discover what they want to be and who they might become,” said Trout.
Club activities include tutoring/homework help, sports and fitness, computer specialized reading and writing programs, woodshop and leadership programs.

Trout said the Buena Park Boys & Girls Club is the oldest youth facility, celebrating 66 years.
