Tired of paying big bucks for small meals? Are you through with going to one restaurant after another restaurant with the waiting period to be served amounting to watching a pre-game NFL show? Well, Black Bear Diner in Buena Park is where it is at if you’re a hearty eater looking for huge portions of food piled on your plate.
It is also a place where just as soon as you’re seated and taking in the outdoor, sportsman-like environment of the popular eatery, your meal is whisked to you hot off the grill from the kitchen. The Buena Park version of the Black Bear Diner chains is No. 63 for Bob and Laurie Manley and Bruce Dean since they started serving people back in 1995 in Shasta, California.
The first thing you notice about Black Bear Diner is the customer service. The waitresses and waiters move swiftly to please the patrons with a big smile and hearty greeting. This, of course, is by strategic design. The first very thing a customer notices is how they are treated from the start and how they are served. Black Bear Diner gets it right in this area.
Part of the company’s mission statement is informing the public that it values each and every customer. Black Bear Diner don’t just talk the talk, they also walk the walk with that line. Next up is getting the food within an acceptable time limit. The company has a standard of getting customers their food within eight to 10 minutes. Now that’s moving.
The first time I sat down at Black Bear Diner for lunch my food was delivered within minutes. And it wasn’t one of those meals sitting and rotting in the microwave oven. The second time around took about seven minutes. That’s pretty fast. These days you can’t get and in and out of a fast food drive-thru line that fast.
So since I received the opportunity to visit the restaurant a couple of times shortly after Black Bear Diner opened for business in Buena Park at the start of summer, I decided to write a review about my experience. It was a first-class experience all the way. Black Bear Diner opened right at the beginning of summer, ripe for the tourism binge to take place. Just down the road from Knott’s Berry Farm. Medieval Times and other tourist attractions, Black Bear Diner gives the consumer something new and different when it comes to serving is menu.
First, the serving of any entree, regardless of what it is, is enough to fill a couple of bears, pardon the expression. The impressive thing about Black Bear Diner is the portion of food that is served. The prices are on par with other restaurants, but what separates Black Bear Diner from the rest of the competition is that you actually get what you pay for and more. The good thing is that there is something for everyone.
But just a school of thought: be prepared to order a to-go box. The Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak was my choice option the first time I sat down to get some grub. Let me tell this that was biggest meal I have ever had! I actually made it half way through the meal before placing my order for the to-go box. The food is hot, well-flavored, on-point and huge.
The Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak is perhaps the most popular item on the Black Bear Diner menu. It certainly lives up to the hype and definitely worth putting on your order list. Now for those who want to get your money’s worth but also want to keep the calories down, you are more than welcome to try the fitness menu. While you will pack on less calories, you’re still going to be ordering that to-go box.
