Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva is pleased to announce that the 2018 California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation Scholarship Program began accepting online applications on April 1. The Foundation is awarding thousands of dollars in scholarship funds to eligible students accepted into an accredited college or university. The deadline for submission is June 1.

“As a teacher of 30 years, and a member of the Assembly Committee on Higher Education, I am devoted to furthering programs that benefit our children. I look forward to working with school districts to address the needs of our students and their families,” stated Quirk-Silva of the California Latino Legislative Caucus. “As expenses for higher education continue to increase, it is important that students of every background find scholarships that are available to them.”

Quirk-Silva invites eligible students statewide to submit applications for financial assistance to meet educational expenses. Program parameters and applications are currently available on the Foundation website at www.cllcf.org.

Sixty $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students across the state this year. Applicant eligibility requirements include being a full time student in an accredited institution of higher learning with good academic standing or a graduating high school senior with proof of acceptance to an accredited institution of higher learning with a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5. Candidates must submit a completed online application and provide all required supplementary paperwork by the June 1 deadline.

Following the submission deadline, applications will be reviewed and scholarship winners will be announced on June 21. Questions and comments concerning the parameters of the scholarship program can be sent to scholarship@cllcf.org.
