A 28-year-old Anaheim man has been arrested for attacking a woman’s vehicle in a road rage incident last week.
Last Tuesday, 34-year-old Veneranda Alvarez of Anaheim, a friend of hers, and Valencia’s 12- and 13-year-old daughters were driving in the area of State College Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, when a man, allegedly unprovoked, began tailing them with his Jeep Liberty and eventually slammed on the brakes right in front of them, forcing them to stop, and got out of his car, climbed onto Alvarez’s hood and punched the windshield multiple times, cracking it, before taking off.
Alvarez had had no prior contact with the man.
One of Alvarez’s daughters recorded the incident from the backseat on her cellphone, and it was later posted to social media.
Alvarez notified police immediately. Two days later, Anaheim PD issued a press release asking for the public’s help in identifying the man, who can be seen clearly in the video.
And under 24 hours later, a news viewer recognized the suspect in the video as Joshua Robert Dalton, 28. Police went to his home Friday afternoon and arrested him without incident.
He had changed his appearance, having shaved after the video of the incident shows him with a beard.
He was booked for felony vandalism. The damage he caused to Alvarez’s car is estimated to cost about $1200. He is being held on $20,000 bail at the Anaheim Detention Facility.
