Andrew Urch of Anaheim has formally committed his intent to play hockey for the University of Utah hockey team in Salt Lake City, Utah, for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

Urch, a native of Orange County, has played the last four years for Villa Park High School in Villa Park, Calif., a team he led to the County Championship finals. This last season he averaged scoring over two points per game, placing second in his league in assists and fourth in total points scored.

Andrew is a veteran of both the prestigious Anaheim Jr. Ducks and Orange County Hockey Club programs and has twice been chosen to the Orange County ADHSHL All-Star team, as well as California’s Team San Diego All-Star hockey team for the 2018 America Showcase Tournament in St. Louis, Mo.

Urch, who started skating at age three and playing travel hockey at age seven, has won several individual hockey skills competitions including the Los Angeles Kings Skills Competition. He passed on several Junior Hockey team offers to attend the University of Utah and play for Utes Head Coach Brett Huras.

“Andrew is an enthusiastic forward coming to us from OC,” said Huras. “He is a hard worker and has a knack for putting pucks in the back of the net. He also has a great attitude and will be a welcome addition to our team.”

Andrew Urch departs for Utah this school year to play hockey for the Utes.
