There are three new flavors on the menu at Salt & Straw at Downtown Disney. And if they sound wacky and whimsical, it’s because they came right from the minds of some of Anaheim’s youngest entrepreneurs: a group of fifth graders at Jefferson Elementary. Salt & Straw ice cream shop holds a Student Inventors Series in each community where it has a shop. This entails inviting students in that community to invent new flavors, with the winning flavors being served in the store for a limited time.
The winners were Sarai Saldana, Cristal Ramirez and Destiney Rivera, who invented the flavors “Lady Noir” (chocolate with red fudge), “Magical Unicorn” (a combination of blue, pink and yellow ice cream with Oreos and cherries), and “Frozen Prezalls” (cinnamon yogurt ice cream with prezall bars doused in caramel) respectively. The flavors are available through October 4 only at the Downtown Disney Salt & Straw location. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the flavors will go to Jefferson’s PTA.
