Impassioned comments both against Councilwoman Sunny Park and against those behind the efforts to recall her continue to be a regular part of Buena Park City Council Meetings. A highlight this time (at Tuesday, June 25’s meeting) was a woman who spoke during oral communications, stating that she worked on Ms. Park’s campaign and helped get her elected. However she says she is owed $2000 by Ms. Park that she has never received. She claims to have reached out directly to Park multiple times, to no avail. She therefore felt that she was left with no choice but to speak at the dais at a Council Meeting.
The woman stated she is Chinese, and alleged that perhaps, “You are a true racist,” speaking to Ms. Park, as she said that the Korean workers on the campaign have all been paid. The racism argument is one that has been thrown around by Ms. Park herself, as well as her defenders, including Councilman Connor Traut, stating that those attempting to recall her are targeting her because of her race.
Councilman Traut sent an emailed apology today stating that he understands this recall is NOT racially motivated.
Your reporting on this issue is extremely poor. When will you actually talk about the evidence presented proving Ms Park stole campaign funds?
